ABOUT

Mario’s style anchors on spirited storytelling that combines authentic performances with dynamic cinematics. His works possess veracity, energy, & heart. He has directed actors, musicians, business tycoons, children, artisans, & athletes. When delivering the goods, Mario is unruffled in a crisis, unstoppable by hurdles, unflinchingly friendly with clients, & inspires genuine teamwork in those around him. 

Mario’s work draws from broad interests & a kaleidoscopic past: from camel rides in the Wadirum desert to race car pits in London; from the youthful days of skating & graffiti to acting classes, solo backpacking, & filmmaking on a Western set.

His approach has been forged by the hammering of life experiences: first as a designer & rock musician, then as a world photographer & writer, & eventually as a first-time documentarian living in the mountains of Turkey. In his early days, he was drawing & “following the light” with his 35mm. Living abroad in Kashmir, India after Art School, Mario dug deep into poetry & cultural photography & uncovered the source of his most poignant inspiration, the human spirit: flawed, yet remarkable… struggling, yet triumphant… & ever shimmering in the dark. This led to a second degree in Creative Writing & more globe-trotting. Soon after, the visual language of motion pictures took root. Personal film projects earned recognition & attracted client work, abroad & then in his present-day home of Austin, Texas.

Steady productions for brands, networks, & agencies keep Mario stimulated & recently gave rise to the opportunity to direct & DP The Gentleman Driver (2018), now on NETFLIX. Mario is Texas-based with his family & joyfully eating, drinking, & taking pleasure in The Work!
